2022 - March Club Release

Warmer days are here! Springtime brings about feelings of new energy and excitement. The ciders inside your spring Swilled Pack are crisp and refreshing and share similar aspects of rejuvenation that comes with the season. We've married flavors that are bright and fruity, have botanical notes, and pair well with a variety of food.

 

This release is extra special for a few reasons. It includes the first Perry we've ever released. And you'll notice new packaging. We've streamlined our Swilled Packs and included a QR code for you in an effort to cut down on waste. We also designed beautiful new labels that spotlight Lucy Pickles and reflect the look and feel of our refreshed brand. We hope you love them as much as we do!

The Ciders

Strawberry Hibiscus

Hibiscus flowers give this cider it's spring-like and effervescent pinkish hue. The floral notes provide some tartness that compliment the slightly sweet flavors of the strawberries and apples. The body is complex giving you different layers of fruit and hibiscus with each sip. It's light and not overly sweet making this a perfect cider to pair with a variety of dishes. 

Pairing Suggestion:
 

Turkey, Harvarti and Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich 

 

Ingredients:

 

  • 4 pieces whole wheat bread

  • 4 slices havarti cheese

  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced

  • 6-8 slices deli turkey meat

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  1. Preheat large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Spread butter on two sides of bread, place butter side down on skillet.

  3. Layer 2 slices cheese, half of thinly sliced avocado, and half turkey meat on each slice of bread on skillet.

  4. Spread remaining butter on remaining pieces of bread, place butter side up on sandwiches.

  5. Cook approximately 2-3 minutes until crispy and browned.

Perry 

This special release is made from pears instead of apples. Reminiscent of a sparkling wine, you'll enjoy notes of pear juice and honey with a mild tartness. Perrys are traditionally lighter than apple cider, making it a better match for lighter, more delicate ingredients like fish. 

Pairing Suggestion:

We paired this bottle with tilapia and scallops, but it would also pair well with delicate or gently spiced chicken dishes such as roast chicken with tarragon. Or, if you love snacking on charcuterie like we do, consider mild cheeses like goat cheese or a mellow blue cheese.

Sangria 

Ripe cherries and tart apples marry together with fresh fruit flavors in our spring/summer seasonal. The addition of the cherry helps create a slightly ruby color, reminiscent of traditional sangrias. Fresh and zesty lemons and limes complement the tartness of the apples, making Swilled Dog Sangria less sweet than wine-based sangrias and infinitely more refreshing. Each sip recalls a day at the beach and you can almost feel the sand between your toes.

Pairing Suggestion:
 

Pork Carnitas with Mango Pico de Gallo 

Ingredients:

 

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt

  • 2 tsp each: salt, chili powder

  • 1 tsp each: garlic powder, onion powder

  • 1 tsp each: paprika, cumin, coriander

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp vinegar

  • 1 large onion, diced

  • 5 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup beef broth

 

  1. Place the pork, garlic and onion into slow cooker. Combine all the spices: salt, garlic and onion powder, cumin, paprika and sugar. Mix together thoroughly, then season the meat. Add the vinegar and broth. Cook on high heat for 4 hours, or low for 6 hours. 

  2. After 4 hours, remove the pork from cooking liquid and shred using two large forks

  3. Prepare the mango salsa: peel and dice mango, seed and dice tomatoes, chop cilantro and shallot. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and add the lime juice, season with salt and a bit of olive oil to taste.

  4. Build taco: Warm tortilla shells; Spread pork carnitas and top with mango salsa, hot sauce, sour cream and lime wedges if desired. Serve with a side of black beans. 

 

For Mango Salsa:

  • 1 mango, finely diced

  • 3 tomatoes, diced

  • 1shallot, finely diced

  • 1/8 cup chopped cilantro

  • juice from1lime

  • salt and olive oil to taste

our new Double Oaked Series. This is a very limited release with only 250 bottles available and we're expecting it to go fast.

 

Our Double Oaked Straight Bourbon Whiskey is already getting rave reviews, claiming a silver medal at the World Whiskies Awards. It's unlike anything else we've released so far so we are reserving 20 bottles specifically for our cider club members. It will be on a first come, first served basis. We'll be releasing more details soon so look for an email in your inbox in the next few weeks with details on how you can be the first to reserve a bottle.
